Käytämme luonnonsavea Loviisan maaperästä ja teemme pieniä keraamisia esineitä, jotka on tarkoitettu lahjaksi toisille, tuntemattomille ihmisille. Esineet poltetaan myöhemmin Sauna Obscuran kiukaassa myöhemmin. Saunojat saavat yhden valmistetuista lahjoista ja valmistavat uusia lahjoja seuraaville saunojille. Utopiaklubin työpajassa aloitamme siis tämän kierron – teemme pieniä savitöitä, jotka myöhemmin poltetaan Loviisan lahden Sauna Obscuran kiukaalla, ja annetaan lahjaksi saunojille. Saunojat tekevät uusia keramiikkatöitä, jotka taas poltetaan ja annetaan lahjaksi uusille osallistujille myöhemmin.

Lahjojen taustalla on ajatus siitä, että voimme vaalia ihmisen rakkautta fyysisiin esineisiin sekä antamisen ja saamisen konseptia osallistumatta massakulttuurin tuotantoon. (Jos rakastut valmistamaasi esineeseen, kannustamme sinua pitämään sen ja valmistamaan toisen esineen lahjaksi.)

Työpajan ohjeet annetaan englanniksi, suomeksi ja ruotsiksi. Työpaja on osa University of Kucku – Faculty of Art, Sustainability, Rest and Whatever -hanketta sekä Art in Lovin ja Loviisa Contemporaryn Rest -projektia.

A Gift for an Unknown Person – Ceramics Workshop with Art in Lov Residence artist Nadya Sobko (Ukraine) and local Loviisa artist Heidi Lunabba

We will use natural clay from the ground in Loviisa to create small ceramic objects intended as gifts for unknown recipients. The objects will be fired in the Sauna Obscura stove later. Sauna bathers will receive one of the created gifts and will make new gifts for future sauna bathers. In this Utopia Club workshop, we begin this cycle – creating small clay works that will later be fired in the Sauna Obscura stove by Loviisa bay and given as gifts to sauna bathers. The sauna bathers will create new ceramic works that will be fired and given as gifts to new participants later.

The idea behind these gifts is to allow ourselves to cherish the human love for physical objects and the concept of giving and receiving without participating in mass production culture. (If you fall in love with the object you create, we encourage you to keep it and make another object as a gift.)

Workshop instructions are provided in English, Finnish, and Swedish. The workshop is part of the University of Kucku – Faculty of Art, Sustainability, Rest and Whatever project and the Rest project by Art in Lov and Loviisa Contemporary.
